established by the Institution of Engineers (India), promotes Research, Design, Development, Productization, and Innovation through collaborative effort since 1969. NDRF is anchoring interdisciplinary technological research in many engineering disciplines including for societal applications, and plays a major role in deploying engineering and technology services, systems, and solutions for nation building. NDRF has emerged as a forum for exploring and disseminating new and emerging design and research concepts. It is dedicated to provide an international platform for the discussion of design and research in the current issues of the Nation.
The Core focus areas being Research and Development Management, Micro, Nano, and Bio Systems, Micro Air Vehicles (NP-MICAV), Sensors for Societal applications including Chemical and Biosensors, System Identification, Flapping Competitions for MICAVs, Development of Fuel Cells, ProtoLab, Rapid Prototyping, and Tooling, Interfacing of Biology and Engineering etc.

In the years to come the NDRF, which is now designated as foundation, is going to be a self-sustaining Organization which will have new directions and approach towards the Research environment. We have planned to have further regional centers which includes as Centre for scientific application, Centre for pollution monitoring, Centre for agriculture applications and also new technologies in healthcare products, the IoT and the major push to the Bio printing & 3D printing of human organs etc. We are also planning a National Programme on Under Water Vehicles, which is a marine related activity and a program on mining. We would also would like to increase the quantum and the quality of the R&D activities that as professional engineers we can collectively take part in and Support the national R&D labs.

We have a large group consortium partners and associated organizations all from Industry, Labs and Academia which helps us to expand in all horizons with expertise. NDRF will always look forward to collaborate with such Organization which will help us to gain our expertise more.
Our endeavors and efforts will certainly help the nation by influencing the national and state policies in the current R&D and technology scenarios.
